    Helaine Murdock, Acting President, Secretary

    Helaine is the acting President and current Secretary for the HSDEF. A current Monte Vista parent of three, she brings a wealth of experience in marketing analytics and strategy to the board in an effort to foster educational initiatives that benefit the Hope community. As a passionate advocate for our local schools, she joined the board to help improve campus facilities and enhance learning environments for current and future students.

  • Keith DeMartini, Treasurer

    Keith has spend his adult life dedicated to community service and supporting public institutions. With a professional background in public education and local government budget, policy, and fiscal management, he currently serves as the Finance Director for the City of Santa Barbara. Keith is committed to fostering collaboration with the Foundation and the community, ensuring transparency and accountability of all Foundation operations. Keith joined the HSDEF Board in 2022 and in the parent of three Monte Vista children.

    Jim Andrews, Board Member

    Jim is a parent to two Vieja Valley students and joined the HSDEF Board in 2024. He is committed to enhancing all of the outdoor areas in the Hope School District to give our students and community the best opportunities to enjoy them. Jim is passionate about our community and looks forward to using his skills and experience to improve our outdoor spaces for all families in the district.

    Adrienne Brown, Board Member

    Adrienne is a Santa Barbara native and current parent to two Hope Elementary students. With a professional background in corporate strategy and business development, she utilizes this skill set to help raise community awareness of the Foundation’s Mission and support the achievement of its goals. Adrienne has been a member of the Board since 2024 and is a local business owner.

  • Dave Hicks, Board Member

    Dave joined the HSDEF Board in 2017 to help support the replacement of the district's outdated playgrounds, and to enhance the overall community for his four children that have attended Vieja Valley. As a C.P.A., Dave is dedicated to bringing his skill set to support the HSDEF Mission of enriching the educational experience for all students within the district.

  • Kim Marme, Board Member

    Kim is a dedicated Hope Elementary 6th grade teacher and a proud mom of two. Beyond her role in the classroom, she actively collaborates with the school board to support the district’s ambitious goals while promoting a safe, nurturing environment for students. Passionate about community well-being, Kim envisions creating vibrant outdoor spaces that foster growth, connection, and wellness for both students and the broader community on and around our open campuses. Kim has been on the HSDEF Board since 2023.

  • Richard Nahas, Board Member

    Richard is a Hope School parent of two and joined the HSDEF Board in 2024. He is committed to enhancing the school district’s landscaping, fields and play areas, and is excited to contribute to the continued growth of the Hope School District community overall. Richard looks forward to translating his expertise as the GM of the Santa Barbara Yacht Club to enriching the experience for all families in the district.

    David Nelson, Board Member

    David is a retired Vieja Valley teacher, having taught grades K-6 in his 30 years with the district. He has always been passionate about creating outdoor spaces that enhance student learning and fitness, as well as school spirit and mental health. His daughter, Mrs. Olson, is a 6th grade teacher at VV and he hopes his 1 year old grandson will one day join the school community. David joined the HSDEF board in 2025.

  • Dr. Anne Hubbard, Advisor to the Board

    Having worked in education for over 30 years, Anne has been the Hope School District Superintendent since 2016. Under her leadership, the district has achieved notable successes, including recognition of Hope Elementary as a National Blue Ribbon school in 2023, and the District’s commitment to fostering a love of learning and growth for all students. Anne is dedicated to supporting students, families, and staff in creating a positive and inclusive environment, where she is the proud Superintendent to approximately 900 District students!
