The WonderScape Campaign

Fuel curiosity. Fund imagination. Shape the future.

When asked, "What's your favorite part of school?" most kids shout the same answer: "Recess!"
At Hope School District, we believe outdoor spaces should be more than just a break, they should be an extension of the classroom, alive with possibility.

The WonderScape Campaign is our vision to reimagine school grounds with less asphalt and more green: vibrant learning landscapes, safer fields, updated play structures, and flexible spaces that invite curiosity, movement, and creativity.

With your support, we can transform our campuses into places where play fuels learning and wonder becomes part of every school day.

Emphasizing curiosity & open-ended exploration

The Hummingbird Hideaway: Inspired by our local Botanic Gardens’ Backcountry Casitas, Monte Vista’s Hummingbird Hideaway will be the perfect place for our students to combine playfulness with creative expression. The design costs and construction labor of this project are donated by a Monte Vista family, allowing the HSDEF to preserve funds for other upcoming projects.

The Hummingbird Hideaway is currently slated to begin later in the 2025-2026 Academic Year.

Encouraging kids to explore & create in nature.

Nestled behind the District building, this currently unused open space will be transformed into The Hope Habitat: A vibrant, multi-use outdoor classroom and community gathering area, accessible by all and for all. Featuring garden and sensory spaces, nature walks, and dedicated zones for art and music, the Hope Habitat will inspire creativity, exploration, and connection to the natural world for students and the wider community.

With some initial grant funding secured, and support from HSDEF dollars and private donations, the project is underway, but additional contributions will be essential to fully bring this vision to life.

Encouraging movement & joyful challenge

Inspired by the boundless energy of our students, Monte Vista’s Charger Course will transform our existing field into a dynamic space for movement, play, and school-wide events. At the heart of the project is a new decomposed granite running path with concrete curbs, creating a safe and welcoming loop for laps, sprints, and joyful exploration.

Planned improvements also include relocating existing volleyball courts and converting them for all-season use, moving the gaga ball pit and refreshing both the soccer field and baseball diamond.

The Charger Course is currently in the planning phase, slated to begin in the 2025–2026 Academic Year.
